Since the explosion of social media, we have been supplied with instant access to news, information and answers. Traditional newspapers will either be retired to commenting on the news, or forced entirely online to be on that wave when a news story breaks. While news teams race out in their van to report a story at the scene, a passer by or local might have pictures and a story already being re-tweeted by thousands.
What's the solution? User generated content.
"Issue Zero begins May 7th. We'll unveil a theme and you'll have 24 hours to produce and submit your work. We'll take the next 24 to snip, mash and gild it. The end results will be a shiny website and a beautiful glossy paper magazine, delivered right to your old-fashioned mailbox. We promise it will be insane. Better yet, it might even work."
This looks like a very interesting prospect, and by flipping the traditional media approach on its head I'm sure the results will be eagerly watched by all. Judging by the press they're getting, they'll most likely be inundated with content, it's down to their editing skills from there to pluck the best of the best for publising!
The brief will be announced tomorrow, May 7th. This is new media in the making, sign up to be a part of it!
