This week in Los Angeles, Sony are to showcase theire 360 Autostereoscopic display, the RayModeler. With a 360° view and built in gesture technology we are on the fringes of the next wave of technology and 3D interaction, gaming and viewing.
As advertising solidly plunges further into the digital decade, this is surely a landmark advance which will open new avenues for product interaction and eye catching product displays. Given that the vast majority of posters don't have the ability to animate yet, this is an exciting development.
While it is an advancement, the animations look somewhat primitive, so there is clearly some way to go, but we're definitely one step closer to creating 3D environments. The gesture feature is really interesting, as it offers another level of brand interaction, and once this technology becomes less expensive we shall be seeing an awful lot more of it around us.
